How to Make a Spiral Wire Bead Ring?

Are you in the lookout to making your own jewelry?

Well then, let’s start with a spiral wire bead ring. Fascinating, isn’t it? Well yeah, absolutely, no one else will be wearing a ring that is made out of a wire. So go on make one yourself, and dazzle the world.

Step 1: Find Your Materials

The wire is the most important composition to this ring. The wire you need, will be sterling silver filled or non-tarnish silver wire, so that it doesn’t hurt your fingers. The gauge of roll you need to buy must be a 16 or 14 gauge wire. You have to ensure it’s half hard. 12 inches or about 30.5 cm of wire can help you with the making of this ring. Copper or nickel can also be used to practice or make things cheaper. Oh and make sure, the bead has a hole in the center. Get your needle-nose pliers and wire cutters.

Step 2: Size it

The center of the wire must be placed against your form, it must be wrapped twice (not less, not more) around, leaving long tails.

Step 3: Bending

Bend the tails next to ensure they form a mandrel or dowel at a 90 degree angle before you run out of the tails.

Step 4: Placement of bead

Now the bead is to be placed on both the wires, and then slid down to the base of the ring.

Step 5: Bend the wires

Now bend the wires to the right angle, on the top of the bead.

Step 6: Spiral the wires on top of the bead

This has to be started, by making a small circle by one of the wires, when it emerges out of the bead. Now push the other wire behind and against it, making sure you do not overlap the wires. Then you have to see if the spiral starts to pull off, using a small block of wood. Now press the spiral gently and firmly, pushing it against the bead as you turns the wires. Keep the spiraling continued, until you have achieved the desired size. A tail of 2 inches or 5 cm on each wire is required for finishing it. Now move it from the dowel.

Step 7: move the beads to the tail of each wire

Wrap both the ends of the ring, close to the beads, making sure not to overlap, till you are happy with the result.

Not only did you just make yourself a unique piece of jewelry, but also saved yourself quite a few bucks.
