Do you feel like you want to breathe new life into your home but don’t know if you are ready or able to invest a lot of money? An easy way to give your rooms a new look and feel is to change out the artwork on your walls. It doesn’t need to cost a lot!
Recently I developed a colorful and interesting picture that was taken with a disposable camera at the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix, Arizona. The Desert Botanical Gardens is hosting a Chihuly Art Glass Exhibit . The photo was edited via a basic photo editing program and then printed out in an 8″ x 10″ format. It was matted and framed and now hangs as ARTWORK in my living space.
The cost for my new artwork was approximately $50.00
Would an artist define this as artwork? Does it matter?
When we look at this photo it brings back pleasant memories of going to the Gardens and viewing all of the beautiful living and non-living items on display. It brings a smile to my face every time I look at it. To me, as a professional interior designer, that is the definition of artwork; not how much it costs, or if a famous artist created it (although indeed a famous artist did create the actual glass sculpture in this instance).
In other rooms of my home I have framed photos of interesting items seen on vacations such as a close up view of grape vines from a winery visited in Oregon, and a historic church found on a road mistakenly taken in between Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico.
So, take a look at the photos taken on a vacation, or get out on a hike and take some close-up pictures of our amazing desert plants. Develop some of your very own, personal versions of artwork and put them up on your walls!
